Hello! My name is Maria Lis-Planells. I grew up in Godfrey, Illinois. I graduated from Ave Maria University in May 2023 and earned my bachelor’s degree in literature with a minor in Education. This will be my first year teaching! I am excited to create a positive, Christ-centered classroom environment. My goal is to instill in every student a lifelong love of learning, both inside and outside the classroom. In my free time, I love to play tennis, read, hike, and bake. My favorite saints are St. Padre Pio and St. Therese of Lisieux. I am so thankful to be a part of the St. Clare of Assisi family!

I have a BS in biology and a BA in secondary education from Maryville University. I have been teaching for 36 years. The first half was spent in high school classrooms and the second half in middle school classrooms. I love life science the best. I have also taught math, language arts, history and theology. I'm the jack of all trades and the master of none (LOL).
I love teaching the children because I hope I can make an impact on their lives for the better. More than anything, I want to help them be saints!!

My name is Debbie Wilmarth and I am thrilled to be joining the faculty of St. Clare of Assisi. I am
from St. Louis, to answer the age-old question I went to Ursuline. I received my BS in
Elementary Education from Southeast Missouri State and my Master’s Degree in Theological
Studies from Ave Maria University. Many years ago, I taught in middle school at two different
Catholic Parish Schools in the area. Then I was blessed to stay at home and raise my five
children. Personally, my mission in teaching is to bring forward the joy of being Catholic and of learning about all that God has created. I am truly excited to work with the students, teachers, and
families of St. Clare of Assisi.

Welcome to SCA!!  My name is Stacey Coryell, and I am the eighth-grade homeroom teacher.  I teach history and language arts classes to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students.  This is my 18th year of teaching and my 10th year at SCA.  I have always taught in Catholic schools – in Springfield, IL, and for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.  I have a B.A. in history and am certified to teach social studies courses for grades 5-12 and language arts courses for grades 5-9. I love SCA because of our Catholic identity, amazing colleagues, and loving community.
