St Clare of Assisi Men’s Club Minutes, February 6^th 2012
44 Members, 4 officers, 1 Priest, 1 Deacon
Called to order – 7:41pm
Opening prayer was led by Deacon Whitson
Pledge of Allegiance was said to nothing in particular
Minutes from the January 2012 meeting read – motion to accept 1^st Bill Cannon, 2^nd Tom and carried
Treasury report read – Revised a bit after Pig Roast expenses came in and a gift went out. Sitting near $9 thousand. A quick summery of the year was heard and we ended 2011 around $10 thousand. Special thanks to Matt Mansfield for work toward the house party fundraising event. – motion to accept 1^st Bill Cannon, 2nd – motion carried

OLD BUSINESS

• Pig Roast – We recapped the dollars at about $3,100 income and $3,400 expense. Further discussion will be had as to the fate of the 3^rd fund raising event. Parkway Bob cautioned the group on strictly looking at bottom line, considering we were able to take extra meals to the needy and we pulled off a nice social event for parish families. Paul Goevert made the suggestion to make sure whatever the fundraising event in the future is, make sure it has a “cause.” Much like the original event was billed as “raising money for new Church flooring.”

NEW BUSINESS

• Lou Pavia spoke of Denis Fessler’s passing. He said that whenever leaving him, Denis always told him to thank the Mens Club. Not much discussion was needed to pass the motion to purchase a plate for him to go on the memorial rock
• Luke 18 Dinner – Food and Cooks and volunteers needed to pull this dinner off for the 8^th graders. Motion to “get it done” 1^st George Smith 2^nd Curt Meyer - passed
• Mens Club Golf tournament - Saturday May 19^th at Aberdeen Golf Club. Need sponsors, Hole sponsors, Scorecard sponsors. But as much as that – WE NEED 4-SOMES – LETS SELL THIS THING OUT IN 2012!
• Prez Henty started a conversation about the goals of the Mens Club. Charity is first and foremost. We need ideas for bolstering the club. We need New Members. Members that work/volunteer. Why do we have new members show up once and never again. Other ideas mentioned by club – Welcome brochure. Men’s Club Mass. Open letter in bulletin. Follow up calls/e-mails to new Men’s Club and new parish members. Be thinking about this and bring your great ideas to future meetings

New Members – ONE ! - Brett Hergenrother. The next men’s club meeting will be March 5, 2012
Poker nite – Feb 24^th 7pm – St Clare room
50/50 of $118 was won by Jeff Meyer.
Special prayer intentions were heard and Jeff led the closing prayer.
