St Clare of Assisi Men’s Club Minutes, August 1, 2011
54 Members, 4 Officers, 2 Priests
Called to order promptly at 7:40pm
Opening prayer lead by Fr. Theby and all remained standing for the Pledge of Allegiance sans flag
Minutes from the July 11^thmeeting read – motion to accept – 1^stBill Cannon 2^ndJack MacMurry – carried
Treasury report was read and summary handed out to attendees – motion to accept – 1^stBill Durbin 2^ndEd Kertz – carried

OLD BUSINESS

• Pres Henty read budget recommendations to cut spending and increase dues. Bill Durbin motion to accept all 3 recommendations as read. John Steinbrecher recommended just capping the Christmas party instead. Pres Henty suggested a new motion of passing the first 2 budget recommendations and tabling the Christmas Party budget until we discuss with Clancy’s. That motion was heard – 1^stBill Durbin – 2^ndand carried.
  
  This means dues are $20 starting Sept 2011 and the yearly food budget will be $3,600 ($300 per meeting)
• Parkway spoke on Oktoberfest and the need for sponsors – 50/50 tickets were passed out to members – please remember to bring unsold Oktoberfest 50/50 tickets with you the night of Oktoberfest
• John Olson made sure we were still having a second place 50/50 winner and Oktoberfest Committee Head names were read
• How to sell sponsorships was discussed – Pres Henty read a promotional piece that may help members when trying to tell sponsors all the good their money goes to
• Prize for selling the most tickets was introduced and Jack Mac offered dinner for 8 at your own residence
• Next Oktoberfest meeting is August 15 - 7pm in the St Clare room
• Mens Club website may or may not need some attention

OLDISH NEW BUSINESS

• Fundraising ideas were shared – Jack Mac – Mardi Gras theme : John Steinbrecher – Sports Trivia : Barry Buerke – Oldies Dance : Monday Night Football/Poker : Curt Meyer – Wii : keep pig roast because we just had a bad date last year
• Jim Christman volunteered to pull together a committee to discuss Winter fundraiser – Committee volunteers are Jim Christman/Barry Buerke / Jeff Meyer/Jack Mac

NEW BUSINESS

• New Members of Appropriations Committee – Jerry Vennemann/Paul Govert/Mike Flynn/Mike Weissaur/Bill Deemer – Mike Pool will chair and act as non-voting liaison between committee and officers/club.
• Mike King said we need help changing out ballasts
• Steve Cain asked for a show of hands regarding interest in a Fall Mens Club Golf outing – seemed to be overwhelming interest – he will start looking for dates
• Jerry Vennamen needs cooks for Parish feast day – August 28 after the 5pm Mass – be there around 4 – sign-up sheet was passed around

50/50 - $133 won by Chip Starr – Rico Red won by Russ Klingel – someone got the swill
Special prayer intentions were heard and Chip Starr led the closing prayer.
