Principal's Corner
May, 2013
Dear Parents,
We are nearing the final weeks of school. As is usual with this time of the year, it is filled with many activities and plenty of important information! Parents of students in grade 3-8 should be checking RenWeb for academic information including current grades and missing assignments.
Our second graders received the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist this past Saturday. Even the rain and clouds could not dampen the spirit and excitement of the children. It was a beautiful Eucharistic Celebration! I want to thank Mrs. Franks, Mrs. Kusky, Mrs. O’Keefe, and Mrs. Trani for helping to prepare the students. Please join us on Thursday, May 2, for our All School Mass and May Crowning.
The Hope for Haiti campaign was very successful. Thanks to the continued generosity of our students, parents, and staff, we reached out goal of $5000! The money will be sent to Catholic Relief Services. Our final service project for the year is the Annual Catholic Youth Appeal. The students will be asked to give some of their own money in support of the Annual Catholic Appeal just as their parents are doing at this time. Please pray for the success of our final project of the year.
It has come to our attention that the plaid shorts that are the summer uniform for the girls, are being discontinued by the manufacturer. Once Just Me Apparel exhausts their current supply of the plaid shorts they will be unable to get any additional ones. The replacement will be navy blue with a cuff exactly like the current plaid shorts. There is a uniform plaid belt available if you so choose. The girls may begin to wear the navy shorts this year.
There will be two faculty changes for next year. Mrs. DeManuele will be retiring from teaching after thirty-five years, twelve of them here at St. Clare. Mrs. West will also be leaving us. She has been at St. Clare for seven years. Both ladies are hoping to spend more time with their grandchildren. We will miss them and wish them well. New members of our staff will be announced in August.
There is a new addition to this year’s Fine Arts Week. We will have an Art Show on Sunday, May 5, from 8-1. You may also view the students’ work throughout the week from 2:00-3:00 each day. Our annual Spring Sing will be on Thursday, May 9, at 1:45 in Dollard Hall. Please plan to join us if you are able!
Monthly Reminders:
All outstanding fees, tuition, and lunch fees must be current before report cards can be mailed on June 4. Records that need to be sent to high schools and other elementary schools will likewise not be sent until all accounts are current.
Sincerely,
Marie Sinnett msinnett@saintclareofassisi.org
